The bike begins from the start/finish point of Staveley.  Athletes will follow Rutherfords Road from Staveley.  After approximately 2.5km they will meet the historic Rangitata Diversion Race, athletes will ride alongside the banks of this until they meet Prices Road. On Prices Road they will cycle west to Cox’s Road and then enter the private property of Mt Somers Station. Athletes will follow farm tracks from this point climbing over Fagan Hill. Station riding will be made up of fast (and slow) 4WD tracks.
The 3800ha station has been in the Acland family since 1856. Today it farms deer, sheep, beef stock and bees! Riders will flow through sections of tussock land, and beech forest, with a few ‘pinchy’ climbs to keep all riders honest. The track will eventually meet Jig Road which they will follow to transition in Woolshed Creek carpark.
